Yes We Can
The Can Making Process
Aluminium beverage cans go through a carefully engineered process that transforms raw material into strong, lightweight, and recyclable packaging. The journey combines precision manufacturing with sustainable practices, ensuring every can meets the highest quality standards.
The Beverage Can Structure
The Manufacturing Process
Preparing the aluminium
Large rolls of aluminium sheet are delivered to the plant. The metal is cleaned, lubricated, and prepared for forming.
Forming the body
Discs, called “blanks,” are punched from the sheet and drawn into shallow cups. These cups are then stretched and ironed into tall, thin-walled cylinders that form the can body.
Trimming and cleaning
Excess metal is trimmed from the top, giving each can a uniform height. The cans are then washed, dried, and coated internally to protect the beverage from contact with the aluminium.
Shaping the neck
The upper rim of the can is gradually narrowed, or “necked,” to hold the lid securely. This process also reduces the amount of aluminium used, improving efficiency.
Adding the lid
After filling, cans are sealed with an easy-open lid made from a separate aluminium sheet. The lid is crimped tightly to ensure freshness and prevent leaks.
Recycling and sustainability
Every aluminium can is infinitely recyclable. Once collected, it can be melted down and re-formed into new cans, often reappearing on shelves within just a few weeks.
